The Customer
Founded in 2006, Emirates Shipping (Hong Kong) Limited operates as part of Emirates Shipping Line (ESL), with its commercial headquarters in Dubai. Based in one of the world’s busiest container ports, ESL runs an extensive service network with over 70 offices across 30 countries. The company provides reliable and efficient shipping services, connecting markets across Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, the Middle East, Red Sea, and Africa.
The Challenge
ESL’s existing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) infrastructure was outdated and faced issues such as redundancy, limited scalability, and high maintenance costs. These challenges impacted their operational efficiency and flexibility.
To address these concerns and support business growth, ESL sought to modernise their digital infrastructure by migrating their systems to Microsoft Azure Cloud. They required a trusted Managed Services partner to guide the transition and ensure the migration process was efficient, secure, and aligned with their business objectives
The Solution
Logicalis designed and implemented a comprehensive cloud transformation for Emirates Shipping Line (ESL), migrating its critical infrastructure and data to Microsoft Azure. The solution included a detailed migration assessment, the creation of a customised landing zone, and the delivery of professional and managed services to ensure security, scalability, and cost optimisation. Logicalis also facilitated skill transfer to ESL’s IT team and secured funding through the Azure Migrate and Modernise Programme (AMMP), enabling a smooth transition and equipping ESL with a future-ready cloud environment aligned with its long-term business objectives.
The Result
The migration to Microsoft Azure enabled Emirates Shipping Line to significantly enhance its IT operations. The shift reduced maintenance costs, leading to improved cost efficiency, while dynamic resource allocation ensured systems were neither underutilised nor overburdened. The transition lowered manual workload, driving higher productivity and operational efficiency. The new cloud platform also provides superior flexibility and scalability, equipping ESL with the agility to support future technological growth and innovation.
“The cloud has revolutionised the way organisations work, and our cloud migration journey needed to be future-proof, to protect our vital IT infrastructure. Logicalis, with their vast domain expertise in implementing and optimising cloud solutions, stepped in as our strategic technological partner, and has helped us effectively leverage technology to enhance our operational capabilities and improve business outcomes.”
